Day 2: Tuesday, October 12th -- Research!

Please reply to this post with your group's two choices for issues that you will support. Explain in a short paragraph why you have chosen each of these issues and which side you are going to be on. Make sure that you are gathering your resources and saving them, as you will work on your bibliography this week as well.
The voki mentioned that you should not choose issues that conflict. For example, if you choose something about saving the environment you should not choose something that may have adverse (bad) events on the environment. The only requirement for choosing your issue is that it must be something that effects a large portion of the American people and be something that you can be passionate about.

Our group is Sawyer, Dylan A, and Ashley. We have decided to use the two issue of Illegal Aliens crossing the borders and the unemployment rates. The reason we chose these issues is because these are two major problems in the U.S. at the current time. For questions you can email Sawyer at DHX4283@k12.sd.us.
ReplyDeleteAn issue we chose was the economy. We are for creating more jobs. What we mean by this is smaller businesses should expand so they can bring in more workers, also more businesses should be created on top of that.
ReplyDeleteOur next issue is world hunger. We think that we should increase the tax on food a little bit so that money can be raised for the hungry. Then they could ship food to the people who need it.

hi hope your day is great my group the wolf pack that includes Erik, Dani and me Kylie. have just picked our issues and they are the iraq was and we are against and the the drugs all the things that can kill you and we are against it.
ReplyDeleteThe first topic that we chose for this project is Illegal aliens. The reason why we chose this was because it is a very easy topic to find information on and that we have some good ideas for how to control the problem. We are for getting stronger border patrols, and getting rid of the illegal aliens within our country if they can't pass the official test given by the United States to become an official citizen.
ReplyDeleteThe second topic that we chose was Global Religion Dispute. What this topic means is that the middle eastern countries don't get along, and they are starting wars over their religions. Also the United States is battling with the Muslims, about building a Mosque by Ground Zero. We are against building a Mosque by Ground Zero because I believe that it is unfair to the american people to build a religious building for the people who bombed and created 9-11 to begin with.

ReplyDeleteEconomy- We will have a harsher punishment when they don't pay their loan. People need better reasons to take out a loan. Encourage banks to give more loans to businesses, so people can have more jobs.
War in Iraq- Bring all troops back, even peace commanders. We aren't exactly fighting over anything anymore so why put the lives of our soldiers in danger.

Good Afternoon Mrs. Walder! Our group Myles, Keith, and Haley are going to discuss the issues of health care and terrorism in the United States, because we feel they are important to a lot of people today Health care is something not everyone has and we think everyone should have it. Along with terrorism because it if we stop it, we can keep the people here more safe, without worries.

1)Spending money on war
Should stop spending money on war supplies and start worrying about the country security and not everyone else's security. Focus on national security and border control and hacker dudes instead of going out and fighting people. Also make peace with other countries so we're not the bullies.
2)Convert cars to hybrids
Would stop pollution and save a ton of money. Better for the atmosphere and environment and is just better all around.
Hey there sophomores!! You all picked really great issues and they are all very important issues in the world today! Remember though, we are only looking at the United States with the issues, not the world. Also, you can spend all the money you want on these issues, but you also have to convince the American public in your INDIVIDUAL persuasive speech that you can work to solve this issue.
